Living on Mission: Embracing the Great Commission

You might be wondering how you can make a real difference in the world. Have you ever felt that nudge, that inner call to do something more, something meaningful? You’re not alone. Many of us feel that way, especially as we step into a new year, reflecting on what God has been doing in our lives and what He might be calling us to next. At Crosspoint, we’ve seen incredible growth and transformation over the past eight years, and it’s all because of one central mission: living out the Great Commission.

The Great Commission is more than just a call to action; it’s an invitation to be part of something bigger than ourselves. Jesus’ words in Matthew 28:19-20 urge us to “go and make disciples of all nations.” This isn’t just about traveling to far-off places; it’s about being a light in your own community, at work, at school, and even in your own home. It’s about living a life that reflects Jesus so clearly that others can’t help but see Him in you.

So, what does this look like in practical terms?

  1. Start with Prayer: Begin by praying for your neighbors. As you pull out of your driveway, take a moment to lift them up in prayer. Ask God to bless them and to use you as a vessel of His love and peace.

  1. Live with Intentionality: Whether you’re at work, school, or even the grocery store, see every interaction as an opportunity to reflect Christ. Be intentional about your conversations and actions, showing kindness and compassion.

  1. Get Involved: Consider joining a mission trip or supporting a mission project. At Crosspoint, we have partnerships in places like Puerto Rico, Zimbabwe, and Myanmar. These are opportunities to use your unique gifts and talents to make a difference.

  1. Build Relationships: Take the time to get to know your neighbors and colleagues. Building genuine relationships opens the door for meaningful conversations about faith and life.

  1. Be Ready: Keep your heart and mind open to where God might be leading you. Whether it’s across the street or across the world, be prepared to say “yes” when He calls.

The point is, Jesus wants us to live on mission, to be His hands and feet in a world that desperately needs hope and love. What will you do this week to embrace the Great Commission? How can you step out in faith and make a difference in your community and beyond?

Remember that living on mission isn’t about having all the answers or being perfect. It’s about being available and willing to be used by God. So, what step will you take this week to live out the Great Commission? Will you pray for your neighbors, start a conversation, or maybe even consider a mission trip? Whatever it is, know that God is with you, guiding and empowering you every step of the way.
